Wistful thinking...

The monthly show at Scott's Antiques Market begins tomorrow, Thursday February 8th. Being inside for four straight days, from 9am to 6pm occasionally makes me cabin-feverish. Memories of Provence help ease the feeling. Below, a few photographs taken on my last buying trip.

Wisteria surrounding a private doorway in Avignon

Wisteria growing over a balcony above a small tea salon. I was surprised to see that there are almost as many tea salons in France as there are cafes.

Stone wall and topiaries in the historic gardens of La Louve, Bonnieux. I did an earlier post about this fabled garden which is open to the public only twice a year. Tickets are only 10EU and are available from the Dept. of Parks in France.

  2. Gracious, it's so good to have photos to remember these places by. It strikes me as very similar to sights I saw in Italy. It's the age of things, isn't it? Hey--by the way, I was looking at one of the posts you made about palazzo pants via google reader published on Feb 2, but when I tried to comment, I couldn't find that post. Is it still on your site? You were looking very chic in your green palazzos-a look I love because for me, the wide legs help balance my pear shape. Have a great market, April

  3. Your pictures remind me why I want to go back to France! I've been there twice but had very little time to meander and travel. Your job sounds like a dream, although I'm sure it has it's moments. But what a trade off!!!

    1. I was in love with France before I even stepped foot in the country. But seeing Provence for the first time...it felt like I had come home. The people, the countryside and little villages, the peaceful way of life, the connection to the land and nature....all these things appealed to me and draw me back time and time again. Much of Europe is like that, I guess, but France and it's people stole my heart.

      Then, there's Paris...oh, don't get me started!!!

      Thanks for stopping by, Jeannie.
